DIY Cologne
If your man wants a scent of his own. It is super easy to do it yourself by grabbing an empty 5 ml oil bottle, a roller fitment, and some V-6 vegetable complex to use as a carrier.
Oils like Pine, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Valor, Cypress, and Cedarwood are a great starting point for crafting those custom blends.
Here are a couple of recipes from the Young Living Blog that you could start with. If you pop over to the blog, you can find printable labels for each recipe!
- Combine oils in an empty 5-ml bottle until your essential oil blend is balanced. Aim for 30-45 drops of oil in total.
- Once you like how the blend smells, fill the rest of the bottle with V-6.
- Insert the roller fitment and put the cap on.

Beard Oil
Shutran Beard Oil is a great choice and if you are not a DIYer, it is the best choice! However, making beard oil yourself is another way to create a perfect scent and use oils specifically targeted to your man’s needs. If you want to take a shot at this DIY, consider giving some of these oils a try:

Hand Scrub
If your man works with his hands, they get dirty! Mix ½ cup of sugar and 2 tbsp of your favorite carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil), then add in 15-20 drops of Lemon essential oil. Store in a glass container and use about 1 Tbsp per use. This combo gets those grimy, greasy, sticky hands shiny clean in no time.
Goo-B-Gone
Lemon oil is great for removing the sticky residue left behind from adhesives, grease, sap, or anything else your man may come in contact with. Simply add a few drops to a cloth and watch the goo be gone.
Odor Eater
So . . . your man probably gets a bit stinky at times. Whether it’s the damp clothes from being in the woods, the odor of fresh fish from a day on the lake, the musty smell from being in the garage, or the shoes (nothing more needs to be said about the shoes), Lemon will become your man’s best friend for keeping things smelling fresh and clean.
Make a spray using equal parts water and vinegar (1 cup each) and adding in 5-10 drops of Lemon essential oil. Use on clothes, hunting or fishing gear, or your husband :) as needed.
Make a powder by combining 2 Tbsp of baking soda with 10 drops Lemon essential oil and sprinkling 1 Tbsp in each shoe.
